At this early learning stage, it’s so important for our curious little ones to interact with key foundational concepts through imaginative play. They explore skills like imitation by watching the adults in their world and acting out what they see, like caring for doll babies. Our teachers gently guide them with prompts and support their growing abilities by repeating songs and rhymes. Our staff also nurtures their enthusiasm for learning new things. We cheer them on as they practice vital skills that help prepare our future leaders, creators and problem solvers for all the fantastic learning still to come!
Toddlers
Ages 18 months – 2½ years
At First Fruit and Alms in Guelph, our toddler program is all about celebrating the unique personalities and growing independence of your little ones. This stage is filled with wonder as toddlers explore their world, and we’re here to support their journey every step of the way. Our caring staff creates a warm and engaging environment that fosters children’s growth and development. We use fun, interactive labelling of classroom items to boost memory and language skills, making learning a joyful experience.
With small group sizes, our toddler program offers plenty of opportunities for interaction and social development. Our daycare in Guelph focuses on developing expressive language skills and understanding each child’s unique needs, ensuring that every child feels valued and heard.
Encouraging autonomy is a big part of our approach. We help children learn to initiate activities, set goals, and recognize the difference between their intended actions and accidents. Our open-ended materials, like a diverse block area, allow toddlers to make choices as they build and create. When a structure falls, our teachers jump in as play partners, guiding them with suggestions like, “Let’s try using the larger blocks first and see if it stands up!”

Preschool
Ages 2½ years – 4 years
At First Fruit and Alms Christian Daycare, Our preschool program lays a solid foundation for academic success by focusing on collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills. Through hands-on learning, children develop a love for discovery and a passion for exploring the world around them.
At our preschool, each day presents new opportunities for our young students to strengthen vital social skills through fun and engaging group activities. Whether they’re taking turns on the slide, bringing imaginary worlds to life together in the dramatic play area, or puzzling through challenges as a team, children regularly practice compassion, communication and open-mindedness amongst their peers. Our experienced teachers also craft lessons designed to ignite curiosity. By sorting shapes, investigating patterns in the natural world, or categorizing zoo animals, kids are encouraged to exchange ideas and explanations with one another.
By fostering collaboration from the early years, we aim to help kids lay the perfect foundation for lifelong respect, cooperation and success – all while enjoying the journeys of preschool alongside friends!

What Makes Us Different?
Outdoor Play
Staff will encourage children to participate in gross motor activities and explore their natural surroundings. Children will be given opportunities to participate in seasonal activities.
Rest Time
A time to relax and recover. Non-sleepers may participate in quiet activities after one hour of rest.
Chapel Time
Once a week, we all gather for Bible stories and songs.
Indoor Play
Staff will encourage individual and group participation in spontaneous and planned activities.
Routines
Staff will help develop skills and independence.
Prayer Time
Staff will lead meal prayers.
